Peugeot

Armand Peugeot’s first bicycle appeared in 1882, by the 1890s Peugeot were producing 10,000 bikes per year. This expansion continued and by the 1930s Peugeot was arguably the largest cycle manufacturer in Europe producing 160,000 per year.


By the end of the 1980s Peugeot had been bought and dismantled.


In the company’s lifetime Peugeot had a record breaking 10 Tour de France wins but will always be associated with the tragic death of factory team rider Tommy Simpson.


The Peugeot brand was relaunched in 2011
