Mercier

Cycles Mercier was founded by Emile Mercier in Saint-Etienne, France. He started manufacturing bicycle parts with 2 partners in 1919 and, after buying them out in 1924, began to manufacture cycle frames and then complete bicycles from about 1930


From 1933 to 1983 Mercier sponsored a highly successful professional cycling team who’s most notable riders were Raymond Poulidor and Joop Zoetemelk.


Emile Mercier died in 1973. The original company filed for bankruptcy in 1985.

Currently the Mercier brand forms part of the Accell Group and produces bicycles near St Etienne
