Galmozzi

In 1922 Francesco Galmozzi and Alfredo Focesi founded Gloria Cycles. A few years later, he left join to Cicli Magri, which he acquired in 1938 and so founded his own brand: Ciclo Galmozzi. Due to his surname GAL-Mozzi (Gallo in Italian means rooster, mozzi means hub), he chose a rooster on a hub as his logo.

Galmozzi did not produce many bicycles. He was an artisan incredibly good at manufacturing frames on cyclists' measurements and needs. His son Angelo joined the family business in 1959 and their workshop in Via Melchiorre Gioia in Milan became a magnet for some of the finest Milanese racing cyclists. Among many sucesses was the Galmozzi Specialissima which in 1961 led Rik Van Looy to his second victory of the World Championship!
