Coppi Squadra Corsa
1959
The actual bike brought by Fausto Coppi on his first and only road race in the UK at the Manx International meeting on 17th June 1959.
After the race the bike was given to Raleigh Industries as a reference for a Fausto Coppi branded race bike being launched by Raleigh for the UK market the next year. That project was shelved when Coppi died 6 months later and this bike was left in the SDBU department at Raleigh until it closed in 1985.
The frame is one of 5 built for Coppi in Faliero Masi’s workshop in Milan in early 1959.
The restored frame is built up as it was ridden in the Manx International in June 1959.
