This hybrid of a Hetchins curly with ‘diadrant’ Bates forks was made in 1983 by Bill Philbrook. The strange name translates as ‘The Unusual’ in Romanian.. It is one of only two known frames with an engraved metal head badge that has ‘PAG’ and the Arden Street address.

The frame is made from Reynolds 531 butted tubing with Nervex ‘Professional’ lugs and hand cut fork crown with inside reinforced tanges. The hand-crafted drop-outs are possibly bronze and the retractable gear hanger is Philbrook’s own design innovation

The detachable luggage rack is retained by rods, threaded at the ends and secured by hexagon nuts inside brazed-on tubes on the seat stays.

It is equipped with a Brooks Professional saddle on a modified Campag twin bolt seat pin. Cinelli type 66 bars on chromed ‘Major Taylor’stem. Mafac Racer brakes. 5 speed Sach-Huret Duopar Eco gears with Campag Nouvo Gran Sport front mech. TA Cyclotourist chainset, Miche pedals, AFA toe clips Christophe straps. Large flange Maillard hubs on alloy 27” rims, Bluemels guards.
